The Best Pizza Sauce Ever!!!
I really wish this weather would make up it's mind. I mean I love the snow and I love Spring, but I would like it to be one or the other. Although I am not looking forward to cleaning up our backyard once everything melts. The damage from the ice storm before Christmas has left a huge mess.
I am enjoying the warm sun though and the flower starting to emerge from the garden.
So I was making pizza last week and realized after I started the pizza dough that I had no pizza sauce or pasta sauce. So I ventured to make my own pizza sauce! Not sure why I have never thought to do this before because it was so easy and way better!!
1 (28oz) can crushed tomatoes
1.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1.5 Tbsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tbsp balsamic glaze
Place all ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil and reduce to low. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes until sauce thickens.
Extra can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week. This also freezes well.
